The Adult Choir is the primary
group responsible for musical leadership in the parish. This
four-part ensemble of approximately 45 volunteers practices
weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30PM to 9:30PM and ministers
at the Sunday 10:00 AM liturgy. The Adult Choir sings for all
major celebrations of the parish. While no audition is required
for choir membership, a desire to learn and grow helps to make
the group excellent.
Adding a very festive dimension to all parish
celebrations, the High School Bell Choir meets weekly on Tuesday evenings from
7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. This group of very dedicated musicians has helped to make
any liturgy for which they play a truly joyful and solemn occasion. No audition
is required but a background in reading music helps immeasurably. Our 4 and a
half octaves of Handbells were generously donated in memory of Gail
Pagano-DiPrete.
The Junior High Bell Choir plays on a more
limited basis and acts as a “training'” choir for the High School group. They
meet on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
A group of 14 Cantors work weekly to support
the parish in its sung prayer. With their primary responsibility being the
singing of psalmody, the cantors lead the parish in new music and act as
“soloist” if a particular hymn or song requires it. Cantors meet on an “as
needed” basis. The selection of cantors is the responsibility of the Music
Director and generally reserved to members of the choir who express interest and
willingness to serve
